On-going & Up coming Work: Work in general is slow, some Heavy and Highway work picking up with a lot of short one or two day jobs. Ottawa Central Grade School should be let in September.
Training: First Aide/CPR Class July 24 at Ottawa Hospital, Flagger Course to be held on July 31, NGET Requal to be held on August 7 and August 28, Asbestos Abatement refresher courses on November 6 and November 7, 8 hour Hazardous Materials refresher on August 21.
Organizing: Continuing Market Recovery projects Road Oil, Inc Granville; Key Builders Princeton; Loberg Excavation Freeport; McDonald’s Trucking Ohio. Ongoing negotiations with A.D.M. Grain Elevator Workers.
Community Service Work: Our local union sponsored a new flag pole for the “Illinois Trees for Fallen Soldiers” memorial in the Illini Park; we are sponsoring a “Concert in the Park” honoring the history and legacy of Labor Day and celebrating the American Worker on September 3, 2010 from 6-9 pm. Featured artist are American Folk Singers and Historians Anne Feeney from Pittsburg and Bucky Halker from Chicago. The event is free to the public. Everyone is invited.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Retired members Robert Foutch and Norman Sullivan who both passed away this month.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to our brave Military Men and Women who are defending our great Country, especially Local 393 member Srgt. Michael Miller.
